I think we need the list of new congress men/ women to call as part of phase 4 of the campaign.
Concentrate on your local lawmakers and CHC members. Sometime back, IV experts told us that we need more republican support too so concentrate on republican lawmakers too.

Above this level, the jobs are far and few, but some are
Principal Consultant / Program Manager (in cos like Wipro, Infy, HP) (12- 18 yrs exp) - 18-28 lakhs
Also note, just because someone has worked in US for a few years does not get any advantage above Project Manager level.
Information based on many well placed contacts at these levels.

It all depends on how you look at it. Under the h1b program anyone is a indentured slave, just not indian software engineers. There are good consulting companies and do pay well.

This seems to be perception based on what people hear or see, but in reality, if the person is capable and good, he/she does not have issues with employer/ nor does employer has issues with the person. While Desi consulting companies seem to stretch rules and have their own ways of handling business, they are also a part of the system. They act like a feeder to system, acting as buffer between layoffs and also specialize in immigration and can be really flexible at times and also give you a share of the billing rates which is not possible in a permanant job where there is career stagnation and lack of mobility.

Then we let the CITIZENS of the country decide what is best for their country! Guys understand one thing, it is a numbers game.

Even the citizens who DO oppose Illegal immigration, SIMPLY OPPOSE illegal immigration, but DO NOT SUPPORT legal immigration per se.
Please DO NOT make the mistake of taking on the CHC at this point, it is a fight that is IMPOSSIBLE for us to win and POINTLESS to even fight. If we win against the CHC (big IF), we win NOTHING, if we lose, we now have bigger problems.

Hi There,
I work in Company A, and Company A filed my GC April 2008 under EB2 Category.
Priority Date: April 2008
I-140: Approved
I-485- To be Filed
I also have a Masters Degree in the US.
I received an offer from Company B (Top consulting Firm) and they are willing to process my GC but in EB3 Category.
My Current H1 will expire in May 2012.
My wife is in the health care profession and currently a student in school and should get a a job next year. She is on a F1 currently and she should apply for a H1 next year. I am assuming that she can file for a GC in the EB2 category.
Questions:
1. Does it make sense to take up the offer or just wait for my I -485 date to become current. If i do not take up the offer, then i would lose out from a career growth perspective.
2. If i take up the offer and apply in the EB 3 category, hoping that my wife�s GC would be filed in EB2, can i apply I -485 with her.
3. Finally, does it make any sense to apply in EB3?
Your advice would be appreciated...

EB3 retrog is completely hopeless in next 2 or 3 years unless the legislation release is passed. Lobbying is the only way to influence.
2 to 3 years is just wishful thinking. This is a permanent problem that we are faced with. Not to mention all the delays at the AOS stage including FBI checks and all that jazz. The only hope is the SKIL bill. WE NEED THIS MORE THAN ANY THING ELSE. I think we are at the cross-roads and this bill will well determine our future in this country

I had been procrastinating about Canada's immigration from almost a year.
yesterday i was kind of bored at work and decided to do something i had been postponing it form long time and motivated myself to apply for Canada's GC. it took me not more than 20 min to fill the application form.
2m i will send the application with fee..afterall what am i going to lose if tis getting precessed along with my US GC..???:)

You are not alone.
We have the same problem.
EAD applied in July 07, EAD card received in Oct 07 and the card was made expired 01/01/07 by WAC.
Called USCIS hotline, tried new applications with WAC, TSC and Info pass, still waiting if WAC is going to correct its own mess.
Big headache.

OK so we're 1 million in the backlog. That could be a small country.
Instead of spending hundreds of thousands on lobbying, we can just buy a piece of land somewhere (big enough to have a passport office building), get immediate citizenship in our new country and then USCIS will be able to process our GC applications within a year.
Someone from Taiwan (and smaller neighboring countries) can get GC in 1 year but if you're from China you will wait 6-10 years. I am not sure of how much cultural differences exist between these two countries, all I know is that my Taiwanese friend speaks Chinese, goes to Chinese church. So much for diversity.
So.. if anyone has the info on how to register a new country, I'd like to know.

I am currently on OPT but it expires in three weeks. I will be forced to go back to F1 status since H1B was real bad this year.
My question is: If I go back to F1 status and then find a research position at a non-profit org/institute of higher education, is it possible for me to file for H1B being on student status??

Its still better to try than not to try at all. If any IV members are in Sensenbrenner's, Peter King's (NY) (co-sponsor HR4437) districts as well as Lamar Smith's (TX) they could try and set up some meetings. I think meetings may potentially have a positive effect. As is evident from other postings, some congressional staff members do not know the difference between GC's and H1-Bs, others view high skilled workers the same way they view low skilled workers, and others have no idea about the hardships EB applicants go through, yet it is these same staff members who are charged with keeping the law makers informed or conducting research. While it might be futile to try in some of these cases, it doesn't hurt to do so.

If PD is not current, will USCIS process your I-485 application?
NSC indicates that they are processing I-485 applications with notice date of July 30, 3007. Does it mean they have processed all the I-485 applications received (ND) prior to that date even if PD was not current for all those applications?
